Workout: Five rounds of 20 back extensions and 10 squat thrusts
I remember the first time I watched Full Metal Jacket...you know the sequence when they're in basic, and Pvt. Pyle keeps screwing up and causing the entire platoon to get punished? There's one shot in that sequence where the whole platoon is doing squat thrusts while Pyle sits on a wall sucking his thumb...and I remember thinking, "That doesn't look that difficult. I wonder how many of those they have to do..." Wellllllllll, today was the first time I tried squat thrusts, and I totally understand why they're used as punishment. They suck. Like, reeeeeeeally suck. I finished working out almost four hours ago and my chest is still burning, my legs are like jello and there's all these weird little mini-spasms happening in my hamstrings every so often. And my lower back is yelling at me for all the extensions. I don't think it's going to be speaking to me for a while.
Sunday, November 8
Workout: Two circuits of the following @ 20 sec high intensity intervals, 10 sec rest between - 4 sets of leg press; 4 sets of lat pulldowns; 4 sets of chest press.
I had to work on Saturday, then go to the grocery store, then head to a housewarming party to watch Penn State get their asses handed to them. So, I decided to go ahead and work out in the gym in my building on Sunday. Hooo boy...ten seconds is not enough rest when you're going high intensity. My left biceps tendon hurt for days after this.
Monday, November 9
Workout: Four sets of 25 body weight squats
Really unmotivated Monday morning. Was one of those "come on, at least do something" workouts. Not terribly happy about it, but something got done.
Wednesday, November 11
Workout: Four rounds of 25 situps, 20 lunges and 10 pushups...very little rest between each
My arms still hurt from Sunday's workout, so thankfully, this one was mostly core and lower body. Had to push myself on this one...feeling great this morning!
Moment of Truth
Weight: 286
Net Change: -3
I was reeeeeeeeeally not disciplined with my eating this week, but I'm still down three pounds...not like that's a lot on my frame, but you gotta start somewhere.
